Created a lot of catalogs for Caterpillar in the last few years. I won’t pretend hitting caps lock or slapping DIESEL POWER or HVY DTY on the front of a shirt or hat is my strongest creative work; however, those are the best-sellers. Speak to your demographic.
Feature Article in Kootenay Mountain Culture Magazine
Are multi-resort passes from Vail and Ikon saving or ruining skiing and snowboarding? I think I answered it conclusively in this wordy article, complete with cartoons and graphs. Publishing is still possible.
Wood & Metal Work
Did a lot of ads, catalogs, marketing, articles, and other writing over the last year, but also trying something new. I’ve been breaking up the quiet time spent typing in the office by risking my digits and crafting solid objects through the use of very, very loud power tools under the guidance of Live Metal Studio.
Langly Bag Co.
Branding for bags and photography equipment with Shotwell Digital. Site, product descriptions, stories, Kickstarter campaigns, you name it.
Byrd Hairdo Products
Classic surf slickness branding with Shotwell Digital. Byrd Hairdo Products was named GQ’s Breakout Brand of the Year. Not sure grooming products want to be associated with breakouts but let's not quibble award semantics.
Skout's Honor Pet Products
Everyone with a pet is going to have to deal with their bowel movements, and there's a pretty amazing brand story with Skout's Honor, which I scripted and you can read here.
More another brand launched through the work of Shotwell Digital.
Monrow
Have a complicated relationship with fashion.
Monrow is a great company, happy to work with them on the site and branding.
Garrett Leight California Optical
What good fortune to have the last name Leight and launch a hyper-successful sunglass and eyewear company. Perhaps I should start a canned ale brand.
Thoroughly enjoyed working with GLCO on copy for the site.
PaceMaster
Smart fitness startup with a storied past — PaceMaster was the first company to develop and produce home-use treadmills in the 1960s.
People often ask me if I get free cars for working in the auto industry. No, no one gives out cars. And I don't get free car-priced treadmills either.
OrganicAde
Gatorade, Powerade, Accelerade, and several other high fructose-laden -ades litter our kidneys, plastic recycling bins, and roadsides. Rather than compete with their palettes of glow-in-the-dark Kool-Aid, why not a premium, all-natural sports drink where the only artificial colors are on the labels?
While we wanted the branding to sound semi-scientific and similar to Japan's Pocari Sweat, we only semi-succeeded in convincing the client. We also lost the fight for hyphens in terms like non-GMO and gluten-free, but somehow got extra exclamation points and a "+" in there.
Shotwell Digital and I created the branding, packaging, site, advertising, name, tagline ("Purity Meets Performance"), and all the rest of the collateral materials to launch this tasty new sports beverage. To your health.
BigRentz: "Work Easy"
BigRentz.com supplies equipment better than anyone. Skid steer, boom lift, cherry picker, or port-a-potty, they have it covered. Pretty much everything you need to know about the business is covered in this video Shotwell Digital and I created, "Work Easy."
United Nations Foundation's "Nothing But Nets" Anti-Malaria Campaign
I've never been paid for any of the work I did for United Nations Foundation and I can't expense it as a charitable donation either. Just because you do the right thing doesn't mean anyone else will.
Two Interviews, One Issue
I guess my name must've been hot right then, with Owen Wilson taking a shot at me and all.
LAX 'Zine for OP
"Can you make a 40-page 'zine that we can distribute at X Games LA? You have seven days."
Old Blogspot Blog
Almost completely forgot I had another blog years ago.
